Introduction to Bowlturning at Arcola Mills

In this two day class you will learn the fundamentals of bowl-turning, as well as shop safety, tool use, and sharpening.  You’ll create a birch bowl (maybe two!) ready to take home and use!
No previous shop experience is required.

Classes are limited to seven students to provide individual attention. It's not too early to reserve your space!

Experience level: Absolute beginner to intermediate. Age 16 and up; younger students considered with permission of the instructor.

Tuition: $165 for the two day workshop, plus $25 supplies fee payable to instructor

Spoon  Carving Class FILLED
with Jim Sannerud
Tuesday evenings, 6-8:3pm
May 28-June 11, 2013
Arcola Mills, Stillwater

Carve  your own hand-crafted spoon while learning the safe and efficient carving, knife-handling, and sharpening skills that will give you the ability and confidence to continue carving on your own. All materials, including use of tools, are included in the tuition—you only need to bring yourself and your zest for learning!

Instructor Jim Sannerud studied traditional spoon-carving in Sweden with Wille and Jogge Sundquist. He is an instructor at North House Folk School, the American Swedish Institute, Vesterheim, and the AAW Gallery of Wood Art.

Get away fro m it all close to home: Arcola Mills is a beautiful historic site located on the banks of the St. Croix River. Just six miles north of Stillwater, Arcola Mills feels a hundred years away from the hustle of modern life—a perfect setting for learning traditional craft. Cancellation policy:  Cancellation policy: Full refund, minus $15 administrative fee,  for
student cancellations made 7 days or more before the class. No refund after that period, unless we can fill your spot. If the class is cancelled, students receive a full refund.

All- Day Sessions:
Session I: Thursday/Friday, Feb 28-March1, 9 to 4 FULL
Session II 2: Saturday/Sunday, March 2-3, 9 to 4 FULL

Evening Classes:
Session III: Tues/Weds/Thurs, April 2-4, 5:30 to 9:30 FULL!

Fees:
$160 per session
$35 supplies fee
