Among Friends: Works from the
Collection of Frank Sudol and Lois Laycraft

January 12- February 14, 2010

Over his long career as a respected artist and revered teacher, Frank Sudol traded artwork with other woodturners, among them some of the top names in woodturning. In 2009 his life partner Lois Laycraft donated many of these pieces to the American Association of Woodturners. This exhibition will include works created from the 1990s to 2007, a period of rapid change in the development of turning as a sculptural art form.
Shown above: Untitled, Jean-Francois Escoulen, France.

garrett Art from the Lathe Ongoing Exhibit

Selections from the American Association of Woodturners permanent collection reflect the diversity of techniques, materials and approaches used in contemporary woodturning. A variety of pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries, along with vintage lathes, show the importance of woodturnings in the context of our ancestors' everyday life.
